blame it on this southern weather

Today I took Scarlet to work with me because Gabe is on days and I didn’t really have any other option. The first thing the smaller kids did was say she looked like a boy. Watching all the life drain from her face like that was probably one of the most heart wrenching things I’ve ever experienced. She was so excited all day to go see all the kids, and so shocked that anybody would have anything blatantly mean to say to her. She went and faced the wall for a second and then hid under the big desk. They were swarming her like she was some kind of circus freak. Then this kid, he’s one of the oldest ones and kind at the top of the badass food chain in the class came and took up for her. He’s always in trouble, but is incredible charismatic and cute. All the older girls try to sit by him, you know the type. Scarlet didn’t leave his side the whole day, held his hand and stuck up for him when he got in trouble. I should probably be worried for when she turns 14ish if her taste in adorable rebels doesn’t change. Then all the older girls thought she was the coolest thing and were trying to hang out with her all day. She had a blast. At the end of the day she was just like, “I’m not a boy, I’m just a mohawk girl!” completely unfazed. I’m so proud of everything she chooses to be. I also got a call for an interview that would be the most ideal job for me right now in my favorite part of the city. It would put my foot in the door to get Scar into one of the best elementary schools in the area. I’m really really hoping it works out, send positive vibes. We’re doing our taxes on Saturday and I’m cleaning out the Camry. Hopefully I’ll be mobile/independent within the next month and a half. I love my life. I get so stressed out and don’t express it enough. I really do have so much to be happy about.
